Rights remain visible
Respect the rights a person retains and make space for their participation.
Professional guardianship · Southeastern Wisconsin
When an adult needs court-appointed protection and no appropriate individual is able to serve, guardianship should safeguard rights while honoring the person’s voice, relationships, and choices.
Dignity is developing a professional guardianship program. Please confirm current approval and service availability before making a referral.

Our guiding philosophy
Guardianship is a serious responsibility, not a substitute for a person’s identity or preferences. We center supported decision-making, consider less restrictive options, and act only within the authority granted by the court.
01
Respect the rights a person retains and make space for their participation.
02
Learn each person’s wishes, communication, history, and goals.
03
Use guardianship authority thoughtfully and only as allowed by the court.
04
Keep clear records, invite feedback, and take concerns seriously.
A thoughtful beginning
The current planning focus is a careful launch in Racine and Kenosha Counties, with Milwaukee County as a longer-term procurement opportunity. Growth should follow demonstrated quality, sustainable operations, and local need.
