Dignity’s planning identifies guardian-of-the-person services as the proposed initial focus. A guardian may act only within the authority granted by the court.
Proposed initial service
Guardian of the person
Depending on the court order, this role may involve authorized personal decisions related to areas such as:
Housing and living arrangements
Health care and personal care
Supportive services and safety
Education, vocation, and community participation
Coordination and advocacy for services, with the person’s voice and retained rights kept in view
Careful scope
Guardian of the estate
Estate guardianship is identified as a limited or later-phase service, only after strong financial controls, fiduciary accounting, bonding, and legal review are established.
Possible future evaluation
Related support
Representative payee services, conservatorship, successor or temporary guardianship, and family guardian education are possibilities for future evaluation, not current service promises.
The people we plan to serve
Adults who need protection and a thoughtful advocate.
The initial population focus includes adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities, dementia or degenerative neurological conditions, traumatic brain injury, serious mental illness or significant cognitive impairment, and adults vulnerable to abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation.
